Julie & Stuart both share the same love and disappointment for Tottenham Hotspur. They first met because, Stuart used to write match reports and articles on a football website that Julie used to read and comment on. Eventually Stuart asked her to a home game, and that was the beginning of their lives together!
After watching an episode of ‘Location Location Location’ it brought Julies attention that members of The Most Excellent Order of the British Empire and their children can actually marry at St Paul’s cathedral. As her father was awarded an MBE in (for years of charity work for Derbyshire Childrens Hospital) they thought it would be a fitting tribute for him to give her away there, and the fact that Julie had moved to London made it particularly significant. Julie and Stuart considered their wedding to have a classic style. She wanted it to be timeless, without a theme that could be made ‘out of fashion’. The venue was traditional, the dress was traditional. This was complimented with a modern reception venue but with the bonus of a birds eye view of St Pauls and the London skyline.
Her dress was by Justin Alexander. As soon as Julie saw the picture online, nothing else compared. “They say you feel like a princess in your wedding dress. I felt like a Queen in this.” Fortunately Julie found a stockist in Derby. Again a modern twist on a classic dress with heavy lace and a beautiful train perfectly suited for a cathedral entrance!
For all future brides Julie has some words of advice,“It’s true what they all say.The day goes so fast. I purposely took a few minutes here and there to take it all in, yet it is still a complete blur. Plus, provided your nearest and dearest are there do not stress about guests dropping out and table plans being wrong. No-one absolutely no-one will notice. Not even you. Concentrate on the main event, get that right and everything else is a bonus, for everyone. I stressed unnecessarily about practically everything, there really is no need. Get yourself a good best man and ushers, and delegate everything!”
