What happens when the wedding you have planned for over 2 years is postponed because of a global pandemic?

At first, I was a little reluctant to do a pre wedding shoot on the actual day a couple were due to get married, my thoughts where twofold it could either rub salt into the wounds or it may in some way help. After much deliberation I took a leap of faith and asked the question and the results were beyond what I thought. I’ll let Yasmin and Matt explain in their own words.

“When lockdown began, we held onto the hope that our July wedding would still go ahead given that our date was still a long time away. As it came closer, we accepted the possibility that it may not go ahead and started to make plans for a possible postponement. Then July came and we decided to postpone both the wedding and the honeymoon until April 2021. On the day that would have been, we obviously wanted to still do something special to mark the occasion. Simon suggested that we could do a pre-wedding photo shoot to get used to having some photos taken but to also spend some quality time together.

Simon recommended a quiet location surrounded by fields and a small woodland which were lovely to walk through and allowed for some great photos to be taken. Even though as a couple we were disappointed with how things have played out this year, we are fortunate that we have been able to reschedule which has brought back the excitement of planning the big day. The photo shoot was a great idea as it made us even more excited for what’s to come. Plus, it was great to do something a little different with a very romantic touch. We’d definitely recommend it!”

As a wedding photographer their shoot gave me the opportunity to get to know them a little better and also play around with a few different finishes to the photographs, developing a range of styles.
