Laura & Ricky’s Wedding day at the beautiful Shottle Hall

Our first wedding post pandemic was with this beautiful couple in July. The day started with Laura and the bridal party getting ready at Darwin Lake Holiday Village in Matlock which is somewhere i have not been before but would love to again. It was great to work with Ben from Bramblehedge Videos creating some lasting memories on film as well as photography. The day moved on to the stunning Shottle Hall, a venue we have shot at a lot over the yeas and one of our favorite local wedding venues, this though was a first for us to photography their new outdoor ceremony area at the side of the hall. What an impact it made for a brilliant day for Laura and Ricky as the sun shone down all day. This is only a sneak preview of their wedding day, if you were a guest and would like to see all of their wedding photographs, please ask them for the password and then click here.

What happens when the wedding you have planned for over 2 years is postponed because of a global pandemic?

At first, I was a little reluctant to do a pre wedding shoot on the actual day a couple were due to get married, my thoughts where twofold it could either rub salt into the wounds or it may in some way help. After much deliberation I took a leap of faith and asked the question and the results were beyond what I thought. I’ll let Yasmin and Matt explain in their own words.

“When lockdown began, we held onto the hope that our July wedding would still go ahead given that our date was still a long time away. As it came closer, we accepted the possibility that it may not go ahead and started to make plans for a possible postponement. Then July came and we decided to postpone both the wedding and the honeymoon until April 2021. On the day that would have been, we obviously wanted to still do something special to mark the occasion. Simon suggested that we could do a pre-wedding photo shoot to get used to having some photos taken but to also spend some quality time together.

Simon recommended a quiet location surrounded by fields and a small woodland which were lovely to walk through and allowed for some great photos to be taken. Even though as a couple we were disappointed with how things have played out this year, we are fortunate that we have been able to reschedule which has brought back the excitement of planning the big day. The photo shoot was a great idea as it made us even more excited for what’s to come. Plus, it was great to do something a little different with a very romantic touch. We’d definitely recommend it!”

As a wedding photographer their shoot gave me the opportunity to get to know them a little better and also play around with a few different finishes to the photographs, developing a range of styles.

Emily & Tom’s Wedding At the beautiful Shottle Hall.

Emily and Tom are our first couple to tie the knot in 2020, at St Edmund’s Church in Allestree before moving on to the stunning Shottle Hall, Tom and Emily were so lucky with the weather as the sun shone down although was little bit of breezy.

It was a fantastic day to be part of, thank you for asking me to capture your story. It was great as always to work with Jamie at The Agnew Film Company who was providing Tom and Emily a superb film of their special day. Thank you also to the friends and family of Tom and Emily who shared in wedding day. Emily’s hair was created by the very talented Anya form Anya Mae Hair and her make up by Rochelle O’brien finally it was a pleasure working again with Chloe from Snapcandy Photobooth’s who are always so professional and fun.
